Shadow Master

The Shadow Master, or Sam, is a key character from the MA VR Storylab group production project.

Storylab was a collaborative project with industry partner Ultraleap. The brief challenged the group to create a VR experience to engage people with, and demonstrate the affordances of the Stratos Explore. The Stratos Explore dev kit used for the project provides haptic sensations and handtracking. We worked with the haptic SDK and also Leap Motion SDK in Unity. Building for Oculus Quest using SteamVR.

In the Art of Shadows, produced by the MAVR 2020 cohort, Sam teaches shadow puppetry to the player in VR. As the player
develops the skill, a beautiful animation made using Quill appears and circles around them.

Sam was created and animated using Character Creator 3, Headshot & iClone 7, voiced by a professional narrator, lip-synced, and then imported into Unity. In Unity the a facial and body animation and audio was applied the .fbx Sam character.
